CNG Bus: The first air-conditioned CNG bus landed in Kolkata today on a private initiative

Last year, the state Department of Transportation took the initiative to run buses that run on compressed natural gas (CNG) instead of fuel oil, in a bid to curb excessive environmental pollution and reduce the price of petroleum products. And today is the beginning of such a new eco-friendly bus service in Kolkata. For now, the bus will run on pilot run or experimentally.

Transport Minister Firhad Hakim inaugurated the CNG bus service in Newtown on behalf of Sarban Bus Services. For the time being, with the help of State Transport Department, five CNG buses will be run from Newton's Sapurji to Ultodanga Government Bus Stand No. 15. Each has 31 seats for passengers.

New buses have been brought from Indore. A company there was ordered 20 buses. However, they were able to deliver five buses in the first phase. In the first step, those buses will run. And in the next few months, the rest of the buses will go to the owners. Each has AC. Passengers will pay the fare fixed by the government.

Transport Minister Firhad Hakim said, "We have talked to a company to supply CNG gas in Kolkata. Even if we refill now, our gas line will come soon. Some pumps also have CNG refilling system Again, there is a facility to fill CNG in government and private buses at the depot of the transport department. ”
